LENOVO PITCH MANIFESTO | brand book

Attention: pessimists, naysayers, puritans, cultural pundits, proponents of ”If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and future-phobes.

The rules have changed. Consider this the memo…

Goodbye borders. Ours is no longer a world separated into a grid of countries. It’s one giant neighborhood, one huge dorm room. Barriers once defined who we are. Now, they are what stand in the way of who we can become. Well, no more.

One technologically level playing field where everything is yours, mine, and ours to own and share.

Hello Frontiers. From Sao Paulo to St Petersburg, from Saigon to Salzburg - technology isn’t separating us anymore. It’s bringing us together, making the world smaller.

And we’re not stopping until we can be everywhere at once. Until the DJ can mash up music and video while standing in line at the movies. Until the artist can upload their graffitti to a digital wall…

Goodbye Bureaucracy. There is no elected leader, no ambassadors to speak on our behalf, no editors in chief. We’re all in this together. We all have hands on the rudder. And, if you find yourself standing still, you’re definitely standing in the way.

Hello Democracy. 100% digital democracy. Participation and sharing are the rule, not the exception.

Wallflowers need not apply. Spectating is not an option. Every status update, tweet, and post is relevant. Every vote is counted. Everyone has a seat at the digital table. Who knows who’ll redefine connectivity or reinvent file sharing. But when they do, we’ll learn from them and put the tools to do it better in their hands.

Goodby vanilla. Cookie cutter doesn’t cut it. One-size-fits-all doesn’t apply to technology or the way we use it. Stark, white, plastic and egg-shaped does not represent the colorful world we live in or the diversity of the people who populate it.

Hello customization. Providing the tools that let people “do” is only the beginning. - they must also let you “do you”.

The laptop that produces the killer presentation will match the killer outfit worn when delivering it. Your phone will never be mistaken for another because it simply couldn’t be anyone else’s. The new tools will say as much about the person who uses them as what they use them to accomplish.

Hello real-time. The original release is remixed, auto-tuned, beat-dropped, bombed and uploaded in the same day. Three kids can turn the publishing industry on its ear by creating a global zine in 48 hours. And we’re here to not only make it possible, but evolve the tools to make it easier and faster.

Hello mash-up. The laptops that keep the stream seamless.

Hello Gossip. The phone that keeps your conversation relevant.

Hello Hemingway. And the tablet that lets you wander far from home - from your home.

Hello humanity. The bus stop in Moscow is cold, so the touchscreen phone must work while wearing gloves.

In India, plugging in and powering up can be a challenge, so the laptop is charged by solar cell. While we’re busy making the impossible possible, let’s never forget the human hands that navigate the keyboard, the eyes that drink in the pixels on the screen. The new tech must be as pure and purposeful as the people using it.

Hello Future. We will aspire to build greatness today, but never at the cost of tomorrow. Our lasting contribution will be a fingerprint on history, not a footprint on the earth.

Hello World.

Whether whispered to yourself or shouted from a rooftop, “Hello World” is an epic introduction; a statement of intention that announces an arrival with confidence and unites the personal and the global.

And it will be the rallying cry of a worldwide movement brought you by Lenovo. Just as it has been for very programmer around the world testing their code for the first time. Because it is our tools, devices and products that will enable these upstarts to break, build, create and repeat.

They will use them to stand up, log on and boldly declare, in their own voice…

Hello World. Lenovo.
